Garments of His Character

Exchanging Garments (Character)

One of the elements of blood covenanting was the exchanging of garments.  For us as believers that means we receive God's character (divine nature) and he receives ours (in other words we put OFF our fleshly nature- that tendency of the old man to do evil).  What do we receive when we receive God's nature?  We receive Him - in order to be like him.  He IS:

Yahweh- (Hebrew for Jehovah)- meaning I am that I am.  I am everything you need at the time you need it.  Yeshua (Hebrew name for Jesus) means Salvation.  Salvation in both the Greek and Hebrew means more than eternal life in heaven.  It means deliverance, help in time of trouble, safety, protection, health and healing and complete restoration.

Jesus said I am (claiming he was God) the light of the World.  So, also are we to be lights.

Jesus said, I am the door (the entrance, the way).  We are to point to others THE WAY which is Jesus- the bridge between God and man.

Jesus is called the Branch of the Lord.  Likewise, we are branches.

Jesus is the living water.  He also said that out of our bellies would flow rivers of living water.

Jesus healed the sick.  In Mark 16:18 Jesus said we would lay hands on the sick and they would recover.  Yeshua is from the root word yasha which means healing.

Jesus is the Truth.  We are to walk in Truth.

Jesus is Bread.  We are to be broken bread to a dying world.

Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life.  We too will be resurrected and we have his divine life flowing through us by grace through faith in his atoning blood.

Jesus is the Son.  We are sons (with a little s)

Jesus is the King and the high Priest.  We are to be kings and priests.

Jesus is the Bridegroom and we are his Bride.

There are many other names or titles for our Lord.  Remember, that in covenant, was the exchanging of names.  His name (s) symbolize his character and they are ours through the blood covenant.  He is:

Jehovah Jireh-The Lord My Provider-  That means he supplies all needs according to his riches in glory.  (Phil.4:19)

El Shaddai- God My all sufficient one-  That means He is my sufficiency when I don't feel sufficient. He comforts and nourishes.

Jehovah Shalom- The Lord My Peace- He is my Peace, nothing missing, nothing broken.

Jehovah Raphe- The Lord My Healer- He heals all my sicknesses.

Jehovah Shammah- The Lord is There-  The Lord is always with me.

Adonai- Lord- He is the boss.

Jehovah Nissi- The Lord my Banner or Victory-He always causes me to triumph.

Jehovah Mekoddishkem- The Lord my Sanctifier- He makes me holy through trusting in his shed blood on the cross.

Jehovah Sabaoth- The Lord of Hosts- He is general of an army of angels for my protection against my enemies.

Jehovah Raah- The Lord my Shepherd- He guides and leads me in the paths of righteousness.

Jehovah Tsidkenu- The Lord my Righteousness-

God is Love.  We have his love shed abroad in our hearts.

God is Joy.  We have his joy in Him.

God is Wisdom.  God has given us wisdom, righteousness, and sanctification.

II Peter 1:3,4  "According as his divine power hath given us ALL THINGS that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
